Ok, someone please tell me where summer is going. I am not ready; I want more warm breezes and sunny skies. Please plug up whatever hole summer is slipping into!!!!
That having been said, it is time to start thinking about Christmas Cards. I am attaching the order form to this email. If you are offering cards, please fill it out as soon as possible and send it back to me. It would be most useful if no one offered them before October 1st. Also, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you include your pastor’s name in the place reserved for it. There are many changes in administration of churches, and I want to be sure I send my “thank-you” to the right person. If you can’t remember how many you needed last year, give us a call (248-816-1546)
Don’t forget the National Day of Remembrance at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy (Long Lake Rd just east of Coolidge) on September 12, at 1:00 pm. Similar events are being held across the country, but LIFESPAN’s is a little more personal. Mary, Joseph, Grace, Anthony and John are 5 preborn babies whose lives were lost in the late 70’s. LIFESPAN’s leadership found out about what happened to them and, with the cooperation of Desmond’s Funeral Directors, Oakland County, and White Chapel, we arranged for their burial. We gather each year at this time to remember them. We have a very brief reflection on the value of their lives, and the lives of all the other at risk infants and leave behind a shower of red roses so that others may remember them too. The ceremony only lasts about an hour, and we would love to see you there.
Mark your calendars for October 17 for LIFESPAN’s Legislative Breakfast at
St. Genevieve-St. Maurice in Livonia. The main speaker will be Rob Karrer, author of The Flowering Rose, which celebrates the unsung pro-life heroes who have come before us.
Realizing that the pro-life movement has been around long enough for people to be writing history books about it is a little unsettling. It is hard to believe we still struggle with something so elemental as protecting human life—but we do. And we will, and must, continue until all life is protected and respected from birth to natural death. We are strong, determined, and we will prevail.
