August 2025

Hello Pro-life Heroes,

I hope you are enjoying many blessings this summer. I have recently spent many night feedings with my newborn son Daniel catching up on Season 5 of The Chosen and Season 1 of House of David on Prime. My biggest takeway from both is the necessity to trust in God no matter what. As The Chosen intersperses the Last Supper with events of Holy Week, Jesus repeatedly encourages the Apostles to trust in Him above all else, especially as they lack understanding of His coming passion. While all lack understanding, Judas decides he knows better how Jesus should act than God does. House of David displays he rise of young David from obscure shepherd to his shocking defeat of Goliath thanks to his unyielding trust in God. In contrast, King Saul turns his back on God in pride, leading God to reject Saul as king, Saul to descend into madness, and the prophet Samuel to anoint the humble David the next King of Israel. God clearly wants our full trust. We celebrate meaningful pro-life victories this summer, yet in the long run, abortion remains ingrained in the culture and laws of most states and assisted suicide is gaining steam. Continue to cooperate with God’s plan to provide abundant life through the pro-life movement. Trust in God as the Victor who has power over these greatest of evils!

Please continue to spread the word about our 5th Annual Links for Life charity golf outing on Friday, August 29.  Please be our ambassadors to invite golfers from your church, community, phone contacts, or address book. If you are not a golfer, please consider if your organization or household may become a hole sponsor. Be sure to include the flyer in your bulletin and website.

Please do the same for the inaugual LIFESPAN Pickleball Tournament on Saturday, September 20 at 1:00pm. Looking ahead, save the dates for the annual CIDER Walk on Saturday, October 4 at St. Rafka in Livonia, Life Chain on Sunday, October 5 at multiple  locations, and the Legislative Breakfast on Saturday, October 18 at 9:00am. The latter event moves to an earlier time as a breakfast instead of a lunch with ticket prices $15 or less to attend.

In June, we were blessed to hold a retirement party for two champions for life in long-time LIFESPAN Wayne Board members Bev Bettega and Yvonne Speer. Bev is a founding member of LIFESPAN going back to 1970. She served in roles such as Chapter Office Manager, Chapter Teasurer, Board Secretary, and volunteer extraordinaire all the way through 2024. Yvonne first volunteered with LIFESPAN in high school in 1972, volunteered as Board member from 1990-2024 and served as the Treasurer of LIFESPAN Incorprated. Bev and Yvonne are true heroes who trusted in God, and deserve gratitude from eveyone in the pro-life movement!

Yours for LIFE,

Timothy Pruse

Wayne County Chapter Director
