Hello Pro-life Heroes,
Thank you for any and all support you gave to spread the word or participate actively in LIFESPAN’s January activities including Luminaries for Life, the Rose Ceremony, and Movement in Motion Youth Bus Trip to the National March for Life. Thank you as well to anyone who attended the March for Life in Washington or any local prayers or events marking the March for Life, and for your own individual prayers and witness for the protection of life.
If you missed it last month, our regular 2026 Chapter Office Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00am-3:00pm. Add our phone number 734-422-6230, our Chapter email wcdr@rrtl-lifespan.org, & Director’s email tpruse@milifepan.org into your contacts! The major upcoming LIFESPAN events promoted in this monthly newsletter are:
March 8**: 37th Annual LIFESPAN Baby Shower (**Some churches choose a different date.)
March 21: Be the Change Pro-Life Youth Conference (@St.Genevieve-St. Maurice, Livonia)
The Church Note for February 7-8 notes that Illinois and New York both legalized Assisted Suicide and Michigan could be the next target in the Midwest for Compassion and Choices, the advocacy organization which is the Assisted Suicide lobby’s answer to Planned Parenthood. While nothing is imminent in the Michigan legislature, we must prepare for the coming assault on the lives of the elderly, ill, disabled, and victims of major physical trauma in Michigan. An attempt to overturn current Michigan law banning Assisted Suicide is more likely to arise from a signature drive to add a ballot proposal legalizing Assisted Suicide as soon as the 2026 midterm elections. We will keep you updated on any such attempts, but we all saw what happened with an electorate that lacked basic education on life issues when Proposal 3 was passed to eliminate all restrictions on abortion in Michigan in 2022. Wayne Chapter is working to compile educational programming to help educate your church or organization on the threat of assisted suicide and reasons assisted suicide is terrible public policy. LIFESPAN can offer a presentation of 45-60 minutes to present to your church or organization, or we can also tailor a brief 15-30 minute discussion to a smaller meeting of your organization. Affordable Care Act subsidies are a major political issue right now as health care costs continue to rise. In this environment, it is important for the general public to understand that for an insurance company or government single-payer system (see Canada), Assisted Suicide is always going to be less costly to promote and provide than effective Palliative care for those nearing the end of life or health care interventions for individuals living with many different kinds of disabilities.
Yours for LIFE,
Timothy Pruse Wayne County Chapter Director
