Hello Pro-life Heroes,
With the autumn months nearly upon us, your support is vital with three core events to LIFESPAN’s mission to promote life from conception until natural death. Make your plans to attend these events and vigorously promote them to others!
First up is the annual CIDER Walk on Saturday, September 28 from 12-2pm at St. Aidan Church in Livonia. We will still publicly give witness to life along Farmington Rd. and past the Livonia Planned Parenthood facility, just with a round trip starting north of 6 Mile at St. Aidan rather than south of 5 Mile from St. Rafka as in the past two years. This is a great opportunity for those of all ages, incuding seniors, families with young children, and youth groups, to safely and peacefully give witness to the Sanctity of Life from conception until natural death because Children In-utero Deserve Equal Rights! All registered participants will receive a new CIDER Walk t-shirt as well as cider and doughnuts provided by Yates Cider Mill. The suggested donation is $20 per couple, family, or youth group. We will also use the event as a membership recruitment opportunity. We are most thankful for every cent we receive in donations, but the time and talent of new generations of members is the biggest need of LIFESPAN today.
The 2024 Life Chain is the afternoon of Sunday, October 6 at over 30 locations throughout Metro Detroit. Our Chapter purchased new, two-sided Life Chain signs to replenish our stock and they are available in our office. If you are starting a new Life Chain or notice your location does not appear on the LIFESPAN website, call Chris Hansen at 734-524-0162 to register.
The 2024 Pro-Life Legislative Luncheon takes place on Saturday, October 19 at Laurel Manor in Livonia with doors open at 10:30am and program beginning at 11. The 2024 program focuses on euthanasia and end-of-life issues in Michigan. State Rep. James DeSana returns this year to offer legislative updates on euthanasia bills pending in Lansing. Jason Negri, an attorney and Interim Director of the Patients Rights Council, will give the keynote address to define and share the positive and negative consequences of concepts such as Advance Directives, Living Wills, Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, and Do Not Resuscitate Orders. While this speaks directly to our aging population, these are important topics for all adults, as we are all but an unexpected tragic accident away from others making life or death decisions on our behalf. Mr. Negri will also debunk common justifications given for euthanasia.
We will have a new online registration link available for CIDER Walk and the Luncheon at https://milifespan.org or call our office and register the old-fashioned way at 734-422-6230.
Yours for LIFE,
Timothy Pruse, Wayne County Chapter Director
