LIFESPAN Representative Memo, February 2024
HI All!
As I write this, we are supposed to get lots of snow. I will continue to think 85 and sunny!
We barely turned the calendar page on 2024 when all the news programs turned their attention to the upcoming November election. At the very same time, abortion supporters turned up the volume on their rhetoric and their vitriolic condemnation of us prolife folks who think there are better ways to solve human problems than by destroying human beings.
Most political pundits believe that abortion will be a deciding factor in how people vote this year and since the pro-abortion lobby has the ear of mainstream media, it makes it difficult for a pro life voice to be heard. I have been thinking about this a lot and trying to figure out how we can also be heard. I have come up with an idea. I don’t know if it will work but we MUST do all we can to counter the pro-abortion noise.
Almost everyone is on some social media platform—Facebook, Instagram, X, snap chat, Nextdoor, and on and on. Let’s make it a point of passing on any and all pro-life statements, memes, pictures, quotations, whatever that we get on our feeds. Sometimes we just pass them back and forth to friends and family who are already pro-life. I am suggesting that we “share” them whenever we get them and let them go wherever they may. I am sure that some of your “friends” will block you, or snooze you or criticize you but there may be one or more whose minds we just might change. At the very least they cannot “not see” pictures we send or life affirming words. I don’t know if this will work, but if we remain silent, nothing will be done. I saw a quote recently that I think is appropriate, I don’t know where it came from, but it works for me—” They tried to bury us—they didn’t know we were seeds.” Let’s all give it a try and let’s encourage our friends and family to do it too.
A heartfelt thank you to all who offered our Christmas cards to their congregations. The funds received help to pay for our billboards, the trip to Washington, Be the Change program and so much more.
By the way, The Be the Change program this year is Friday, April 12 at St. Michaels in Livonia and Saturday, April 13 at Auburn Hills Christian Center. Presenters this year are Ryan Bomberger from the Radiance Foundation and Joseph Tuski from Protect Life Michigan. I will attach a flyer—please share it with your youth ministers.
Love Life!
Diane
