Hello, Champions !
Hope you are enjoying this fall season. Just wanted to remind you of our new format for the WCC (Wayne County Chapter) News. We hope that you will enjoy the new look.
We continually attempt to improve our business so we can keep our Chapter viable to support the LIFESPAN Mission. As in all organizations, our members are the lifeline. We’ve discovered that our member-ship records are outdated and desperately need current information. Our records have a direct impact on the cost of our mailings, our contacts, and our support. Therefore, our concentration is to verity our membership by inquiring if those listed wish to remain as current/active members. This effort will include obtaining up -to- date information and to collect membership dues, if needed. A more accurate membership data base will eventually result in cost savings, especially on postage. Currently each member is mailed a LIFESPAN News at a cost of $8.00 per year.
In March 2019, our records indicated a total of 1,700 members. After review with the new treasurer, a more accurate membership count is much lower. However, things improved a bit after the movie “Unplanned” was released and also following our annual dinner in May. Those two events resulted in an increase of members.
Another cost saving initiative is to send the WCC News electronically to our members, via email. This sounds good, however, we can only accomplish this if we have a member’s email address in our files. We are requesting that you verify your email address with our office manager, Mary Jo Hodge at: wcdr@rtl-lifespan.org
We are strong now, but just think how much stronger and louder our voice would be if our membership numbers increased. Therefore, we must spend some energy on our LIFESPAN outreach and education Keep your eyes and ears open to opportunities to reach more people in the Wayne County area. The 2020 election year will be here before we know it. We have a responsibility to provide information that supports ALL LIFE. I am sending a big THANK YOU and GOD BLESS to all of the churches who have continued to be our supporters.
On a upbeat note, our “Walk for Life” was better than I thought even with the rain we had. Our President, Diane Fagelman and her husband Jerry, were troupers as they walked through the rain with the other walkers. I think they are still trying to dry out. The winner of the 2020 Entertainment Book for the most raised for the Walk was Mary Cascos. Thank You Mary and all your supporters. I heard there is always healthy competition between Mary and Mike for the benefit of our Chapter. Mike, Thank You for doing what you do for us. God Bless You both for the many years of dedication to LIFESPAN. One note, Mike and I have some ideas we will work on for next year’s walk. If anyone else might have some ideas please pass them on to me.
A few weeks ago, we participated in this year’s Life Chain along with many other locations around the country. The Wayne County Chapter added a new location this year on Farmington Road between 5 and 6 mile in Livonia. Of course this was a wonderful tribute because it runs in front of Planned Parenthood of Livonia. There were 135 participants of all ages what a Great First Year! Thank You All who came out to be with us. God was good to us with beautiful weather.
On a sad note, I want to pass on our condolences to our President, Diane Fagelman, who lost her brother two weeks ago. Prayers and thoughts to you and your family.
I wish you and your family a Blessed Thanksgiving. You are my blessing and may God Bless you for all your support these past 10 months.
Gary
