Wayne Nov 2020

Hello Pro-life Heroes,

Thank you to all who helped make the 33rd Annual Life Chain and 2020 CIDER Walk so successful in October! Your witness for life at all stages continues to inspire. While we may not see the fruits of our labor immediately, I guarantee you at least one baby and mother were saved from the double-tragedy of abortion because of your proud, peaceful, public witness to life. Sadly, Wayne County accounted for 39% of Michigan’s abortions in 2019, despite accounting for 18% of Michigan’s population (“2020 Grants Awarded to Detroit Pregnancy Centers.” Right to Life of Michigan News, Volume 47 No. 3: Fall 2020, p. 9.). I challenge all of us to step outside of our comfort zones and provide additional public witness to end this tragedy in our own community.

We now move forward to the heart of our annual Christmas Card sale. With all the COVID-19 restrictions, this is a logistically challenging year for many of you to sell the Christmas Cards. We cannot thank you enough for rising to meet the challenge! There is more great news for January. With the AOH Hall in Redford back open, Mary Jo Hodge will be moving ahead with planning our 2nd Annual LIFESPAN Dinner-Dance event! Speaking of our beloved Mary Jo, she officially retired as our Chapter Office Manager at the end of September. She will remain with us to help train our new Office Manager and promises to remain close to LIFESPAN as a volunteer. We thank Mary Jo for her dedication and enthusiasm. Anne Marie Reiff will also be leaving us for a time in November for the birth of her baby. Congratulations to Anne Marie and Andrew on the birth of their first child! While Anne Marie will return as Wayne County Youth Director in 2021, we greatly appreciate her efforts covering many of the duties of the Chap-ter Director these past months.

Finally, God-willing this is late to the party, but let us continue to pray for and communicate with our Senators the importance of approving the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. By all accounts, she has a brilliant legal mind and is a legal protégé of the late great Justice Antonin Scalia. Judge Barrett is a walking billboard for life as her and her husband, Jesse, have seven children, including two adopted from Haiti and one with special needs.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Yours in LIFE,
Timothy Pruse
Wayne County Chapter Director
