LIFESPAN OAKLAND/MACOMB REPRESENTATIVE MEMO: JULY 2020
Hi Folks,
Warm, muggy, a little rainy—summer in Michigan. At least we are able to get out and about a little more easily than in the past few months but we will all be happy when we no longer have to wear masks and can come and go with less worry.
We are moving ahead with plans for the 2021 Bus Trip to Washington DC. Faith and optimism is leading the way so I have attached a flyer outlining the details. Please try to be sure that your youth ministers see it. Feel free to copy it.
Lynn and Maria have been verifying the email addresses we have for students, youth ministers and schools and churches to be sure that our records are up to date. If anything has changed in your faith community, please let us know. Also, if you have had a change in pastor, associate pastor or other clergy, please let us know that as well. With each event we have, we always send a letter to the pastors who have let us be present at their church and we want to be sure we are not sending to a person who is no longer there!
You will shortly be receiving our Candidate Survey newsletter. While LIFESPAN cannot and does not recommend or endorse candidates for political office, we are permitted to ask such candidates questions that reflect on our mission and publish their answers in our newsletter. If they don’t respond, that is indicated also. This issue is for the primary election in August. Many people say they don’t bother to vote in the primary but they fail to understand that the candidates who win in the primary are the candidates we select from in November. Needless to say, there is a great deal riding on this coming election, so please, look the newsletter over carefully and select those candidates that most closely align with your values. If you need extra copies of the newsletters for family or friends, please call the office and we can send one to you.
We are in the process of selecting Christmas cards for this year. I am attaching the order sheet with this memo. I really need to know how many of you are offering Christmas cards and how many you think you might need.
