LIFESPAN OAKLAND/MACOMB REPRESENTATIVE MEMO: JANUARY 2019
Hi Folks,
Can it be? Is it really true? Yes, it is? The year has turned and this mailing will be for 2019. I remember when the year 2019 was the far distant future and we would all be flying around in our own personal jet cars, food would automatically cook itself and a little robot would come and clean our homes. So much for those who said they could see the future !!!
Our future is here and now and we continue to work toward another future when all life will respected and protected. THAT is a future we hope comes to pass.
The buses for Washington DC will be leaving on the evening of January 17 for the March. We have had several meetings with the students and their chaperones and the excitement is great! These young people know that they hold the key to that future we hope for and they are ready to meet the challenge
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the Christmas Cards. Sales this year were a little disappointing. Fewer and fewer people send actual cards anymore. A lot of the Christmas greetings are done on the Internet and a lot of people use family pictures on their cards and have them printed up at a retail store. It is kind of sad—it is fun to receive cards in the mail and use them as decorations in around the house.
If you have not seen our Lights for Life Christmas tree on the Weingartz property (thanks again to them) on Grand River in Farmington Hills, it is well worth the trip. Each light represents someone special and when see all together, glowing brightly, there is a feeling of peace that overcomes you.
