LIFESPAN OAKLAND/MACOMB REPRESENTATIVE MEMO: APRIL 2019
Hi Folks!
As this is being written, spring is just a few days away. However, snow still on the ground and 36 degrees doesn’t seem very “springy” to me!!
The top issues for this month are our Resource Book and the Celebrate Life dinner. We just found out that our speaker for the dinner will be Ashley Bratcher. She is the actress who portrays Abby Johnson in the movie
UNPLANNED. As usual abortion supporters are trying desperately to let this important film go unremarked, even making sure that it got an R rating. Funny isn’t it—young girls under the age of 17 can get an abortion without parental permission but can’t see a movie that explains the harm done to mother and child by abortion.
All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood directors in the nation she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. She thought she was helping women in crisis. Then she saw an abortion. Abby left that clinic and founded the organization And Then There Were None to help clinic workers leave the industry when the destruction became too much to bear.
The movie, UNPLANNED is Abby’s story and Ashley Bratcher did not hesitate to accept the chance to play Abby. Ashley herself has quite a story to tell about her own birth and when asked if she would take the role she immediately said yes in spite of the personal cost to her. “I knew from the very beginning, they warned me, they said, “You’re probably gonna get blacklisted. This could end your career.” I said, “I don’t care. It’s worth it.”
So, we need lots of new ads in the book to help meet expenses. Please think of any and every business, organization or friend you have and ask them to please take an ad. We all need to stand tall and proudly let others know we are pro-life and ask for their help. The second thing we all need to go is to see UNPLANNED. I have attached a list of theatres that are showing the movie.
There is still space at Be The Change so I have attached the flyer in case you get any questions.
Don’t forget to rsvp for the Volunteer Luncheon. I write to so many of you each month and don’t get to see you very often. This luncheon is a great opportunity.
Don’t forget to reserve a date for the White Cross display. Call Cathy Abbott to get on the schedule (248) 802-876)
I really encourage you to see the movie and come to the dinner. We are facing a very troubling time in the pro-life movement. It is bad enough that awful laws are being passed that allow a child to be aborted moments before delivery—yes that is the truth—and in some cases, babies that are born, separated from the mother and lying unattended are being left to die without any intervention. If you did not know that, then it is because main stream media has simply blacked out any mention of these laws being passed in the states. People who try to speak out are being silenced by threats or their presentations are disrupted by abortion supporters in the audience ringing cow bells, blowing whistles, pounding on drums or singing. Students in elementary and high schools are not allowed to write papers on the issues that threaten human life. Stickers and t-shirts depicting such things as Love Life, or Protect Life, are considered “threats” or “hate speech” and not allowed in school buildings. Those who support abortion know that when people discover what is really happening, they reject abortion, so silencing those who are pro-life is their latest tactic. Unfortunately we do not hear much in our churches about the evil of abortion and the harm it causes women and, of course, their babies. So—it is up to us. Stand up for Life. Talk to your friends and relatives about it. Be open, be informed, and speak up. Silence is acceptance and the abortion supporters know that if they can silence us, everyone will think it is another life choice, like which dress to wear, what food to eat, which car to drive. We can no longer be silent.
Love Life!
Diane
