LIFESPAN OAKLAND/MACOMB REPRESENTATIVE MEMO: MAY 2018
Hi Folks,
Well, we all must have feathers and duck feet by now so that we can get around all the puddles. Please make it stop!!!
Raffle tickets—please promote the raffle tickets with friends and family. We are way behind this year from previous years and really need to sell more tickets. If you or someone you know cannot attend the dinner, perhaps they will take a raffle ticket.
Speaking of dinner, our Celebrate Life! dinner is only a few weeks away– May 8th at the San Marino Club in Troy. As before, we have the silent auction and the tin can raffle to liven things up and our guest speaker is comedian Jeff Allen. It will provide us all with a lighthearted, entertaining evening with good food and good friends. Sometimes we have to step back from the serious work of LIFESPAN and relax a bit so we can return to our efforts of protecting human life. Join us!
If you will be offering carnations to your faith communities, and have not yet ordered your carnations, please do so as soon as possible. Our deadline for ordering flowers from the florist is April 20th. We cannot use St Benedict’s for the more northern churches this year, but as soon as I have a new pickup point I will let you know.
This seems like a good time to wish all of the mothers who receive this memo a very Happy Mother’s Day. This wish is extended also to all those who have been both mother and father, aunts and grandmothers who have nurtured children with love and devotion. Thank you is so small a word for all that our moms do for us, but sometimes it is just the right word.
Lynn is working on plans for the bus trip to Washington DC in January of 2019. If you are interested in helping to plan the trip, please call her here at the office, 248-816-1546.
Last month I asked you to check with your youth ministers about a summer activity for your young people (baseball game, whirly ball, picnic etc) If you haven’t had an opportunity to do that yet, please do. If there is interest in any of these activities we need to know.
We are also encouraging you to try and help us increase membership in LIFESPAN. We are open to any and all suggestions you might have. New members always mean new ideas and we want to be an organization that grows and meets the needs of those who embrace the notion that we need to protect human life!
Diane and Lynn
