LIFESPAN OAKLAND/MACOMB REPRESENTATIVE MEMO: OCTOBER 2017
Hi Folks,
Wow, Mother Nature turned her calendar page from August to September and decided to shut the door on summer!!! We may have a few more warm days, but the leaves are already beginning to turn!
Our service at White Chapel Cemetery for National Day of Remembrance was lovely. The day was warm and sunny. Fr. Mike Green OSB gave a brief reflection on the our efforts to love both mom and baby, Elsie Padilla, from Crossroads Care Center reflected on her experience with abortion and Colleen Walters led us in three beautiful songs. We then placed red roses on the gravesite of our little babies. The event was beautiful in its simplicity. I have attached a picture of the grave marker for you to see.
The Christmas cards are in production and should be here by the second week of October. Please get your orders and dates into me as soon as you have them. If you have never done cards before and would like to, give us a call and we can talk about it. Don’t forget, we also have Entertainment books.
Reservations are now underway for the 2018 Washington Bus Trip. As most of you know, buses are filled on a first come first served basis and when the 8 buses are full, we will not be able to take anymore reservations. Please be sure you youth minister and Christian Service commission sees this. If they want more or different information, please have them call Lynn Gura here at the office. 248-816-1546.
Life Chain is Sunday, October 1st. It is always difficult to remember anything that falls on the 1st day of a month (I know—my birthday is July 1st!) so if you could get a reminder posted or announced on September 24th, more people might attend. If you are having a chain at your faith community and need signs, we have them here.
I am attaching another flyer about the youth event “Abolish Abortion in Your Lifetime” at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church on Sept 29th. Again, please share with your youth ministers. This will be a great evening for young people. Audrey is a young, dynamic speaker and the movie, Voiceless is outstanding.
Michigan Nurses for Life’s annual conference is Oct 7th and will deal with end of life issues and protecting our religious freedoms. Make no mistake, the right to hold a religious belief and express that belief is under attack. Recently, Senator Diane Feinstein questioned whether a candidate for a federal judgeship would be acceptable because of her Catholic religious beliefs! The conference is open to everyone, not just health care workers. Flyer attached.
On October 21st, we will hold our annual luncheon in Dearborn. This year we will hear about adoption. Pro-lifers frequently offer adoption as the loving option to abortion. If we are going to suggest it, we should know something about it. This luncheon will do just that. I have attached a flyer. Please see if you can get it placed somewhere visible. You would be surprised at how many of your faith community have adopted, are adopted or would like more information. This event is being handled by the Wayne West office so please call 734-422-6230 for more information.
Well, I guess that’s all for now—
Love Life!
Diane and Lynn
